Wi live in a large home in a little village perched on a hill near Asti, with a marvellous view of the Alps in the distance and a well-kept terraced garden. The house has a spare bedroom with a double bed and a separate apartment with kitchen, bath and one further bedroom. The area is in or close to the vineyards where some of the best wines in Italy are produced (Barbera, Barolo, Barbaresco) and the traditional food is excellent. Moreover, both my wife, who is Northern Irish, and I are excellent cooks and have a superior cellar full of good wines dug in the rock below the house.
